What’s on offer?

  • Salary: £7,071 – £7,127 per annum (FTE £24,189 – £24,379), plus excellent benefits. Holiday pay is included in the salary.
  • Hours: 16 hours per week during University term time only (three x 10-week terms)
  • Location: Warwick SU, Coventry. Some off-site work may occasionally be required

What’s the role?
We’re looking for enthusiastic and friendly Food and Beverage (F&B) Assistants to join our team at the Food Station – one of Warwick SU’s most popular outlets.
As part of our Operations team, you’ll play a key role in:

  • Delivering excellent customer service with a smile
  • Serving food and drinks quickly and efficiently
  • Handling payments accurately
  • Keeping the outlet clean, safe, and welcoming for everyone

No two days are the same, and while experience in hospitality is a bonus, it’s not essential – we’ll give you all the training you need.

About the Food Station
The Food Station is the go-to place for lunch on campus. From freshly made baguettes to hot burrito bowls, nachos, and vegan options, it’s all about great-tasting, good-value food that keeps our students fuelled throughout the day.

JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: F&B Assistant

RESPONSIBLE TO: Team Leaders, Deputy Outlet Manager and Management Team and through them, to Food and Beverage Manager, Head of Strategic Operations, Operations Director, Chief Executive and Board of Trustees

RESPONSIBLE FOR: None

MAIN PURPOSE FOR JOB: To help with the preparation and service of food and drink ensuring high standards of food hygiene and customer care

MAIN DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To serve customers in a friendly and helpful manner, according to organisational policy on customer care and outlet service standards
  • To prepare and serve food and beverages for sale
  • To keep displays of beverages well stocked, tidy and clean
  • To support the Licensee in the upholding of the Justices on Licence and the Public Entertainments Licence
  • To operate tills, give change according to procedure. To follow all financial regulations as instructed
  • To keep preparation areas and seating areas clean and tidy and free from rubbish
  • To operate all machinery and equipment in a correct and safe manner. To use equipment for its designed purpose and according to organisational policy on Health and Safety, to follow manual handling procedures, to use equipment for its designed purpose and according to organisational policy on Health and Safety and to use appropriate protective clothing or equipment
  • To abide by current legislation and organisational policy concerning food hygiene, health, safety and fire.
  • To assist operations in all SU run areas where required
  • The above to be carried out with regard to organisations policy on Equal opportunities and continuous improvement
  • Anything other, in line with the job description that may from time to time, be reasonably required by the organisation
  • To commit to reducing the Students’ union environmental impact and promote environmental and ethical good practice

EXPECTED STANDARDS

  • To follow hygiene regulations and systems at all times.

  • To implement correct stock rotation procedures
  • To ensure that their role is clearly understood, particularly their liability and responsibility
  • Ensure correct change is given, all transactions are accurately recorded and procedures are followed at all times
  • To complete required due diligence documentation
  • Record wastage correctly
  • Ensure that organisational policy on Health and Safety is followed
  • To use equipment for its designed purpose and according to organisational policy on Health and Safety
  • To follow manual handling procedures
  • Use appropriate protective clothing or equipment
  • Maintain personal hygiene standards and standards of appearance at work
  • To adhere to cleaning schedules, complete due diligence records and implement hazard control procedures.
  • To have a basic knowledge of the product range of all outlets and to know the opening times of all outlets
  • To be carried out in line with the Students’ Union Environmental policy.
